Story of Shrinivas Balaji on Hari Om app
To protect righteous people and devotees of the gods from the influence of Kaliyuga, the seven great sages (Saptarishi) come together and decide to perform a grand sacrifice (yajna). However, there is uncertainty about which of the three supreme deities (Trimurti) – Brahma, Vishnu, or Shiva – should be the recipient of this yajna. To resolve this, Sage Bhrigu sets out to test them, visiting Brahmalok and Kailash one by one. After being disappointed by Brahma and Shiva, Sage Bhrigu reaches Vaikunth, where he loses his patience and, in anger, strikes Lord Vishnu on his chest. This angers Goddess Lakshmi, who then leaves Vaikunth in dismay.
Unable to find Lakshmi, Vishnu becomes troubled and comes to Earth, where he enters deep meditation inside an anthill. Meanwhile, Brahma, Shiva, and Goddess Parvati devise a plan to find Vishnu. Disguised as a cow, calf, and cowherd, they come to the Chola kingdom to search for him. Through their collective efforts, Vishnu emerges from the anthill in the form of Srinivas and continues his divine play (Leela). He first goes to fulfill a promise made in his previous life to his mother Yashoda and starts living with his current mother, Vakula Devi.
On the other side, Vedavati, who had sacrificed herself in the Treta Yuga for Vishnu, has now been reborn as Princess Padma, the daughter of King Akash. It is destined that she will marry Lord Vishnu. Princess Padma worships Vishnu and eagerly waits for him, but Kaliyuga creates many obstacles in the way of their union. Due to the influence of Kali, Padma’s family refuses to believe that Srinivas is an incarnation of Vishnu. However, because of Princess Padma's devotion to Vishnu, her father, King Akash, gives Srinivas a chance. He challenges Srinivas to bring a grand wedding procession as wealthy as Vishnu himself.
Due to Goddess Lakshmi's absence, Srinivas struggles to find wealth, and whatever he does find mysteriously disappears. In the end, Lord Kubera, the treasurer of Goddess Lakshmi's wealth, loans the required money to Srinivas. This leads to a magnificent wedding between Padma and Srinivas.
Years later, a devoted king named Todman constructs a temple for Lord Srinivas Balaji. Even today, the offerings of money and hair made at this temple are said to have been used by Lord Srinivas to repay the loan he took from Kubera for his wedding.
