About Me
I am Shrikant Vishwakarma, an Indian writer, researcher and storyteller from Bokaro Steel City, Jharkhand, India. I graduated with a degree in History, and my relationship with storytelling began long before I became a professional writer.
As a child, I was fascinated by stories, comics and fantastical worlds. Reading comics, in particular, had a profound influence on my imagination and gradually awakened the fantasy writer within me. I became fascinated by larger-than-life characters, ancient worlds, mythology, legends and stories where the boundaries between the human and the supernatural could disappear.
While I was still in college, I began writing my own stories and sending them to television producers and publishers, hoping that one day my work would find its way onto the screen. That persistence eventually paid off when a Mumbai producer responded positively to one of my stories. That opportunity became the beginning of my professional writing journey.
For nearly 14 years, I have been working in the Mumbai film and television industry, writing for television, film and digital entertainment.
I began my career writing comedy and crime-based television shows, which gave me a strong foundation in screenwriting, structure, characterisation, dialogue and the discipline of writing for a demanding production environment. Over time, I was given the opportunity to work in fantasy and Indian mythology, the genres that have always been closest to my imagination.
Since then, mythology and fantasy have become the central focus of my creative work.
My approach combines storytelling with research. I enjoy exploring India's vast mythological traditions, ancient literature, legendary characters and historical settings, and then finding ways to transform that material into engaging contemporary stories for television, digital audiences and young readers.
My work across projects has included research, story development, screenplay and dialogue writing, allowing me to be involved in a story from its conceptual and research stage through to the final script.

MYTHOLOGY & RESEARCH
Indian mythology is at the heart of my current creative work.
My research and writing interests include the Puranas, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Hindu deities, ancient Indian legends, mythological characters, sacred traditions and historical settings.
I am particularly interested in taking traditional material and building stories around it without losing the cultural identity, spiritual depth and sense of wonder that make Indian mythology distinctive.
My work often brings together:

This has allowed me to work on stories ranging from gods and legendary warriors to supernatural worlds, ancient kingdoms and children's fantasy.
AUTHOR
Chhota Vikram Aur Baal Betal
I am also the author of Chhota Vikram Aur Baal Betal, a children's fantasy novel inspired by the legendary tradition of Vikram and Betal.
The story reimagines the world of ancient Ujjayini through a young Vikram, combining mythology, fantasy, adventure, danger, friendship and the mystery surrounding Betal.
The book is intended to appeal not only to children but also to adult readers who enjoy Indian mythology, fantasy, and legendary storytelling.
The project represents my ambition to take Indian mythological and folkloric storytelling into new forms while retaining its cultural roots.

MY CREATIVE VISION
I believe India's mythology contains an extraordinary universe of characters, worlds and stories that can speak to audiences far beyond India.
My aim is to create stories that retain the soul and cultural identity of Indian storytelling while using contemporary narrative techniques that can connect with children, young adults and international audiences.
Whether I am writing for television, film, digital platforms or books, I am particularly drawn to stories that contain wonder, mystery, mythology, adventure and emotional human journeys.
My long-term creative goal is to build stories and fictional worlds inspired by India's vast mythological and historical heritage and bring them to a wider international readership and audience.
