Mishri Pandey, a 24-year-old news reporter from Kashi, finds her faith in God dwindling due to the
increasing crime rate in the city. Every day, she offers newspaper clippings of
crime reports at the temple of Kaal Bhairav, the guardian deity of Kashi. The
locals condemn her for this, calling her irreligious, wicked, and worse, and
they complain to her grandfather, the head priest of the Manikarnika Shakti
Peeth. The responsibility of maintaining the temple has been a family
tradition, passed down from their ancestors.
Mishri often writes sarcastic and critical pieces about Kaal Bhairav in her
news columns, questioning, “How can he be the guardian of Kashi if he cannot
protect his own city from criminals and thugs?” However, for the past few
days, mysterious goons have been targeting her, repeatedly attempting to rob
her, only to vanish without a trace.
One day, a young man named Shiva rescues Mishri from these goons, who had
stolen her locket. This incident marks the beginning of their friendship. Shiva
introduces himself as the son of a Mahadev temple priest who has recently
returned from studying in Mumbai. What Mishri does not know, however, is that
Shiva is actually Kashi’s guardian, Kaal Bhairav, who has come to
protect her after being moved by her truthfulness and sincerity. But the
mysterious goons persist in their attempts to steal her locket, which contains
a precious gemstone.
The locket, a family heirloom gifted to Mishri by her grandmother, holds a small
divine gem. Unbeknownst to Mishri, this gem is one of the sacred pearls
from Goddess Sati’s earring, which fell in Kashi when her body was cut
into 51 pieces. This very event led to the establishment of the Manikarnika
Shakti Peeth. Eons ago, Goddess Adi Shakti gifted this pearl to the first
head priest of the Shakti Peeth, and it has since been safeguarded by Mishri’s
ancestors. Now, however, Shukracharya, the guru of demons, seeks to
acquire the gem to expand his demonic forces on Earth. As long as Sati’s
sacred gem remains around Mishri’s neck, Shukracharya cannot unleash his dark
powers upon the mortal world.
Lord Mahadev appointed a Kaal Bhairav as the guardian of each of the 51
Shakti Peeths. Since Mishri now possesses Sati’s divine gem, Kaal Bhairav
has sworn to protect her. Yet, Mishri remains unaware that Shiva is
actually Kaal Bhairav, constantly watching over her.
A Tragedy That Shakes Mishri’s World
Mishri’s younger sister, Shalini, gets pregnant by Raghav,
the son of Bhanu Pratap Singh, a minister from Kashi. To avoid
responsibility, Raghav, along with five of his friends, brutally rapes and
murders Shalini. When Mishri and her grandfather seek justice, the corrupt
system shields the criminals, and the minister’s son and his accomplices are
acquitted. Devastated by the injustice, Mishri attempts suicide, but
Shiva ( Kaal Bhairva) saves her.
The very next day, Shiva (Kaal Bhairav) begins gathering evidence
against the minister’s sons. Mishri takes these proofs to the police and
the court, but no one listens to her. When justice is denied, Kaal Bhairav,
in his form as “Dandnayak” (The Dispenser of Justice), punishes the corrupt
police officers and then the judge for their sins.
He then starts delivering justice to the minister’s sons, one by one. After
the mysterious deaths of two of them, the police are pressured to find the
person behind these killings. Yet, they find no trace of him. Meanwhile, as Dandnayak,
Kaal Bhairav begins eliminating Kashi’s criminals, striking fear into the
hearts of wrongdoers.
Mishri starts writing about Dandnayak daily in her newspaper. Soon, people
flock to the police station with their grievances, only to find their cases
resolved overnight by this mysterious enforcer. As crime rates plummet, the
corrupt minister Bhanu Pratap Singh and his associates panic and demand
immediate action.
As Mishri witnesses these events unfold, her faith in Kaal Bhairav and his
divine powers begins to grow.
The Rise of Inspector Sangram Singh
After the third minister’s son is killed by Dandnayak, the authorities
bring in Inspector Sangram Singh, a fierce and determined officer. Under
immense pressure from his superiors, Sangram suspects Mishri of
orchestrating these killings to avenge her sister’s death. However, every
time he tries to interrogate or harass her, Kaal Bhairav, in his unseen form,
protects her.
Soon, Dandnayak punishes the fourth minister’s son, further
convincing Sangram that an unseen force is behind these killings. Determined,
the inspector embarks on a relentless pursuit of the mysterious vigilante but
remains unable to track him. Meanwhile, Mishri completes her law degree and
becomes a lawyer, with Shiva (Kaal Bhairav) aiding her in every possible
way. Yet, Mishri never realizes Shiva’s true identity.
At times, Inspector Sangram Singh also becomes suspicious of Shiva, but he
never uncovers the truth.
The Dark Secret of Bhanu Pratap Singh
Meanwhile, Raghav, the last surviving minister’s son, repeatedly escapes
Kaal Bhairav’s wrath, protected by his father’s sinister influence.
However, Bhanu Pratap is not just a minister—he is actually the demon guru
Shukracharya in disguise. His ultimate goal is to obtain Sati’s sacred
gem, which rests in Mishri’s locket.
Bhanu Pratap’s entire world is mayavi, a realm of dark magic. Using
deceit, he manipulates circumstances to trap Mishri into marrying his son,
Raghav. His true motive? To gain access to Sati’s divine pearl through
Mishri.
However, with Kaal Bhairav watching over her, every attempt by the illusionary
demon family to seize the gem ends in failure.
