The revered deity of the Marwari community, Rani Sati Dadi (Grandmother) , is also known as Maa Narayani, whose birth avatar took place seven hundred years ago in a village called Dokwa.
According to mythological beliefs, after Abhimanyu achieved martyrdom in the Mahabharata war, his wife Uttara wanted to become sati for her husband's sake, but at that time, due to the presence of a child in Uttara's womb, Krishna did not allow her to do so. To honor the words of the Lord, Krishna granted her the boon that her desire would be fulfilled in the Kali Yuga, and thereafter she would be worshipped as Shri Sati Grandmother under the name Narayani. After the Dvapara Yuga, during the middle of Kali Yuga, this boon of Krishna came to fruition, and Uttara, in her previous life, was born as Narayani Bai at Seth Gursamal's place, endowed with some divine powers since childhood that astonished the villagers. On the other hand, Abhimanyu's reincarnation, in the form of Tanadhan, occurred at the place of Seth Jaliram.
Fate brought them together in childhood, and their families decided to bind them in a relationship of kinship after a few years. However, before this could happen, a significant incident occurred. The prospective husband of Narayani Bai, Tanadhan, was a friend of a Nawab's son. Tanadhan had a passion for horses since childhood. Once he found a horse somewhere, Tanadhan nurtured it. But a few days later, the Nawab's son began to test his strength on Tanadhan's horse. When Tanadhan refused to give up the horse, the Nawab's son fought with Tanadhan, leading to Tanadhan being struck by the Nawab's son.
After this incident, Tanadhan's parents left the village overnight. However, the Nawab kept searching for the murderer of his son and his family, but he couldn't find anything about them. But Narayani Bai's family knew where Tanadhan's family was. Therefore, both families decided to marry Narayani and Tanadhan together. Tanadhan left with Narayani's palanquin. However, the Nawab attacked Tanadhan here, resulting in Tanadhan's death. But when Narayani saw her husband dying, she took on the form of Chandi and began to annihilate the enemies like a valiant warrior, just as Mother Durga had done to the demons of Mahishasura. Seeing Narayani Bai in her ferocious form, the remaining soldiers of the Nawab fled. However, Narayani Bai, in her fierce form, did not calm down in any way. After much difficulty, when Narayani Bai calmed down, she expressed her desire to become sati with her husband's body, and after the cremation was arranged, she sat with her husband's body in her lap. Agni also ignited spontaneously in that pyre associated with Narayani, after which there was a rainfall of flowers from the sky, and then Narayani Bai went to Satlok along with her husband. Later, Narayani Bai became famous as Dadi Sati.
