Karva Chauth is observed on the fourth day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik. It is the main festival for married women. Married women observe this fast for the long life of their husbands.
As per the tradition, devotees fill a pitcher with water and keep wheat grains in a sieve. They perform worship by creating a picture of Shiva and Kartikeya beneath the moon on the wall or on paper. On this day, they observe a strict fast without water. They offer prayers to the moon and then break their fast.
There is a story associated with this:
There was a merchant with seven sons and a daughter. Along with his daughters-in-law, they all observed the fast of Karva Chauth. When the sons of the merchant began to have dinner at night, they asked their sister to join them. Upon this, the sister replied, "Brother! The moon has not risen yet. I will have dinner after offering water to the moon." Hearing this, the brothers said, "Sister! The moon has risen. Offer water to it and then have your meal." Despite hearing the words of her sister-in-law, she knew the truth of the situation and said, "Sister-in-law! The moon has not risen yet. Your brothers are deceiving you by showing a false light." Despite hearing the words of her sisters-in-law, she paid no attention and offered water to the light shown by her brothers and had her meal.
In this way, by breaking the fast, Lord Ganesha became displeased with her. Afterward, her husband fell seriously ill, and everything they had in the house was spent on his illness. When she realized the faults she had committed, she repented. She began observing the fast of Karva Chauth again with proper rituals and devotion to Lord Ganesha. By showing respect to everyone and seeking blessings from all, she regained peace of mind.
In this way, observing actions with faith and devotion, Lord Ganesha became pleased with her and granted her husband a long life. After curing him of his illness, he bestowed wealth and honor upon her. Thus, those who observe the fast of Karva Chauth with honesty and devotion, become happy and free from troubles. Story of Lord Ganesha: There was a blind old woman who had a son and a daughter-in-law. She was very poor. She used to worship Lord Ganesha every day. Lord Ganesha would appear in person and say to her, "Mother, ask for whatever you want, and I will grant it to you." The old woman would say, "I don't know how to ask for anything. How and what should I ask for?" Then Lord Ganesha would say, "Ask your son and daughter-in-law and then ask for it." Then the old woman asked her son and daughter-in-law, and the son said, "Ask for wealth," and the daughter-in-law said, "Ask for a grandson." Then the old woman thought that her son and daughter-in-law were speaking for their own interests.
Therefore, she asked her neighbors, and the neighbors said, "You have a little life left. Why ask for wealth and a grandson? Just ask for sight so that you can spend the rest of your life in happiness." Hearing the words of the neighbors, the old woman went home and thought that if she asked for the well-being of her son and daughter-in-law, and for her own interests too, then it would be good for everyone. So she asked for sight and also asked for her own interests. When Lord Ganesha came the next day and said, "Tell me, old woman, what do you want?" Hearing the words of Lord Ganesha, the old woman said, "Oh Lord Ganesha! If you are pleased with me, then grant me nine crores, a healthy body, eternal marriage, light in my eyes, grandchildren, and happiness to the entire family, and finally, grant me salvation." Hearing the old woman's request, Lord Ganesha said, "Old woman, you have deceived me. Anyway, whatever you have asked for, you will get it all." Saying this, Lord Ganesha disappeared. Oh Lord Ganesha, just as the old woman asked for what she wanted, you have given everything. Please bless us all to give to others as well as ourselves.

Roman Hindi Karvachauth pooja
Is din nirjal vrat kiya jata hai. Chandrama ko dekhkar arghya dete hain phir bhojan karte hain.
Is par behan ne uttar diya- Bhai! Abhi chaand nahi nikla hai, uske nikalne par arghya dekar bhojan karungi. Yaha ki baat sunkar bhaiyon ne kaha-behan! Chaand nikal aaya hai, arghya dekar bhojan kar lo. Yah sun usne apni bhabhi se kaha ki aao tum bhi chandrama ko arghya de lo, parantu is kaand ko jaanti thin unhone kaha behan ji!
Abhi chand nahi nikla, tere bhai tere se dhokha karte huye agni ko prakash chhalani se dikhaya rahe hain. Bhabhiyon ki baat sunkar bhi usne kuch dhyaan na diya aur bhaiyon dwara dikhaya prakash ko hi arghya dekar bhojan kar liya. Is prakar vrat bhang karne se Ganesh ji us par aprasann ho gaye. Iske baad uska pati sakht bimar ho gaya aur jo kuch ghar tha uski bimari mein lag gaya. Jab use apne kiye hu doshon ka pata laga to usne pashchataap kiya. Ganesh ki prarthana karte huye vidhi vidhaan se punah chaturthi ka vrat karna aarambh kar diya. Shraddhanusar sabka aadar karte hue sabse aashirvaad grahan karne mein hi man ko laga diya.
Is prakar uske shraddha-bhakti sahit karma ko dekhakar Bhagwan Ganesh us par prasann ho gaye aur uske pati ka jeevan daan dekar use aarogy karne ke pashchat dhan-samrman se yukt kar diya. Is prakar jo koi chhal-kapat ka tyag kar shraddha-bhakti se chaturthi ka vrat karenge ve sab prakar se sukhी hote huye kleshon se mukt ho jaayenge Ganeshji Vinayakji ki kahani: Ek andhi budhiya thi jiska ek ladka aur ladke ki bahu thi. Vah bahut gareeb thi. Vah andhi budhiya nityapriti Ganeshji ki puja kiya karti thi. Ganeshji saakshat sanmukh aakar kehte the ki budhiya maai tu jo chahe so maang le. Budhiya kehti mujhe maangna nahi aata so kaise aur kya maangu?
Kyon maange dhan aur pota, tu to keval apne netra maang le jisse teri shesh zindagi sukh se vyatit ho jaaye. Us budhiya ne bete aur bahu tatha padosiyon ki baat sunkar ghar mein jakar socha, jisse beta bahu aur mera sabka hi bhala ho vah bhi maang loon aur apne matlab ki cheej bhi maang loon.
Jab doosre din Shri Ganeshji aaye aur bole, bol budhiya kya maangti hai. Hamara vachan hai jo tu maange gi so hi payegi. Ganeshji ke vachan sunkar budhiya boli- he Ganeshraaj! Yadi aap mujh par prasann hai to mujhe nau karod ki maya de, nirogi kaya de, amar suhag de, aankhon mein prakash de, naati pota de aur samast parivaar ko sukh de aur ant mein moksh de. Budhiya ki baat sunkar Ganeshji bole budhiya tune to mujhe thag liya hai. Khaier jo kuch tune maanga liya vah sabhi tujhe milega. Yun kehkar Ganeshji antardhyaan ho gaye. He Ganeshji jaise budhiya maan ko maange anusar aapne.Sab kuch diya hai vaise hi sabko dena aur hamein bhi dene ki kripa karna.
