When Lord Shiva cursed a flower. indian mythology stories curse and boon story series.
The story is from the Satya Yuga, a time when all living things existed in their physical forms. Like mountains, rivers, and trees, all these sentient beings existed both in their physical forms and as elements, maintaining their position in both realms. Among them was a living entity named Ketaki Pushp, which had been falling from the sky to the earth in the form of a flower for many ages. However, no one knew the origin of Ketaki or which tree it belonged to. To this day, it remains unknown from which part of the universe Ketaki was falling. Yet, whether they were gods or demons, humans or celestial beings, everyone eagerly awaited the descent of the Ketaki flower to the earthly realm.
Ketaki exuded such a delightful fragrance that as soon as it fell on the ground, a captivating aroma spread all around. Humans used the flower to please the deities. Gradually, Ketaki's pride grew to the point where it believed that there could be no other flower on Earth with a fragrance like its own, and therefore, it was showering blessings upon the land. Time passed, and once, Brahma and Vishnu engaged in a debate to determine who was the greatest deity. Unable to settle the matter peacefully, a linga (an abstract representation of Shiva) manifested in the universe. A voice emanated from the linga, declaring that whoever could find its beginning or end would be considered the greatest.
Brahma and Vishnu accepted the challenge. Brahma rode on his swan to explore the upper part of the linga, while Vishnu, mounted on his Garuda, descended to investigate the lower part. Thousands of years passed, but neither Brahma nor Vishnu could discover the origins or ends of the linga. After some more years passed, Vishnu appeared before the linga and sought forgiveness. However, Brahma did not concede defeat. Going higher, he encountered Ketaki Pushp, who lied to Brahma, claiming to have witnessed the upper part of the linga. In his eagerness to win the argument, Brahma sought the false testimony of Ketaki Pushp. Shiva, in the form of the linga, exposed the lie and cursed Ketaki so that from that day forward, it would not be used in any worship. It would remain a mere ordinary flower. After cursing Ketaki, Shiva severed one of Brahma's heads as a punishment for his falsehood.

Jab Mahadev ne diya ek phool ko shraap.
जब महादेव ने दिया एक फूल को शाप.
Kahani Satya yug ki hai, jab sabhi jeev sabhi vastuen apne dehik roop mein the. Jaise pahaad-parvat, nadi-jharna, aur ped-paudhe, ye sabhi dehadhari jeev ke roop mein bhi rahte the aur tatva ke roop mein bhi apne sthan par kayam rahte the.
Ketaki mein itni mahak thi ki uske bhoomi par girte hi charon aur sugandh phail jaati thi. Manushya us pushp ka upyog devi-devtaon ko prasann karne ke liye unhein chadhaya karte the. Dheere dheere Ketaki Pushp mein yeh ahankar sama gaya ki is dharti mein uske jaisi sugandh wali aur koi pushp nahi ho sakti, isliye wo dhartilok par girkar sab par kripa kar rahi hai. Samay beet gaya.
Ek baar Brahma aur Narayan dono mein kaun sabse bada dev hai, is mudda par bahas chhid gayi. Dono khud ko bada batane lage. Jab dono ke beech ka mamla shant nahi hua to brahmand mein ek agniling prakat ho gaya. Us agniling se awaaz aayi ki Brahma-Vishnu dono mein jo bhi uske aadi ya ant ka pata laga lega, wahi bada kahlayega. Brahma aur Vishnu dono ne us agniling ki baat maan li.
Kuch aur varsh beet jaane ke baad Vishnu us agniling ke samne prakat hua aur usse kshama maang li. Tabhi Brahma ke mann mein ek vichar aaya aur usne Ketaki Pushp ko agniling ke samne jhooth kehne ke liye bola ki Brahma ji ne agniling ke oopari chhor ka pata laga liya hai jiski gawahi wo (Ketaki Pushp) swyam hai. Brahma ji se varadan pane ke laalach mein Ketaki ne agniling ke samne jaakar jhoot bol diya. Magar tabhi woh agniling Shiva ke roop mein prakat ho gaya jinhone Ketaki ke jhoot ko pakad liya aur use shraap diya ki aaj ke baad wo uski pooja mein nahi chadhayi jayegi. abse wo sirf ek sadharan pushp ban kar rahe jayegi. Ketaki Pushp ko shraap dene ke baad Shiv ji ne Brahma ke ek shish ko bhi kaatkar unhein unke jhoot ka dand diya.
