Through his prolonged meditation, Chyavan Rishi's body had transformed into a termite hill. So, at that location, all that could be seen was a termite hill resembling the shape of a human body. One day, King Sharyati's daughter Sukanya, while indulging in water sports with her friends, accidentally mistook the termite hill for a deer and pierced it with a thorn. As a result, blood started flowing immediately, and Chyavan Rishi became blind. Sukanya's behavior angered the sage, and a commotion ensued, prompting the king, queen, and soldiers to rush to the scene.
When the king and queen learned the whole story, they were distressed because they realized that Chyavan Rishi would not forgive them without issuing a curse. However, Chyavan Rishi, without cursing Sukanya, suggested to the king that he arrange the marriage of his daughter with him. The king and queen were astonished at the sage's proposal, but realizing their mistake, they agreed. Since Sukanya was already engaged, she willingly married Chyavan Rishi and devoted herself to his service day and night.

One day, the twin sons of the Sun, the Ashwini Kumaras, passed by that path. When they saw Sukanya, they became infatuated with her beauty. The Ashwini Kumaras began their attempts to win Sukanya, as they were the most handsome gods in the universe. However, Sukanya, due to her unwavering loyalty to her aged and blind husband, did not waver. Unable to seduce Sukanya with their charms, the Ashwini Kumaras proposed a challenge.
They told Sukanya that they were going to bestow eternal youth on her husband. To prove their sincerity, they suggested a test: if Sukanya could identify her real husband among the three when all three submerged in a pond and emerged looking identical, they would grant eternal youth to Chyavan Rishi. Sukanya agreed to the challenge.
When the Ashwini Kumaras and Chyavan Rishi emerged from the pond, looking identical, Sukanya, guided by her devotion and true love, identified her real husband. Impressed by her fidelity, the Ashwini Kumaras blessed Chyavan Rishi with eternal youth. Sukanya's loyalty ensured that Chyavan Rishi remained youthful forever.
