The incident was like this: A long time ago, in a village, there lived a blind beggar and a lame beggar. Both of them begged together. Despite being physically disabled, people showed more sympathy towards them, which kept their begging bowls filled with money every day.
Both beggars would express their gratitude to God for this. Sometimes, God would also visit them and ask if there was any problem, promising to solve it. The blind and lame beggars would tell God that they had no problems, they only wished for their earnings to double day and night. And it happened so. Their earnings increased, and they started playing with money every day. However, after earning more money, the blind beggar started thinking that their earnings were increasing because of him. On the contrary, the lame beggar thought that people gave more alms because of him. Due to this pride, they started quarreling every day. It wasn't an ordinary quarrel but they would physically fight, breaking each other's heads.
Eventually, they decided to separate and started begging separately. But God was not pleased with their separation. He wanted to help both of them. God thought about it and first appeared before the lame beggar and asked, "Son, how can I help you?" The lame beggar angrily replied, "Nothing, just make that blind beggar like me, Lord. I don't want anything else from you.
So that when he becomes lame, he can't go begging to people like me." Now, God appeared before the blind beggar and asked, "I cannot bear to see you unhappy, so I have come to grant you a boon. Tell me, what should I do for you?" At that, the blind beggar also replied angrily, "Lord, I don't want anything. Just make that lame beggar blind like me, so that he faces difficulty in begging and cannot earn money." That day, God understood that nothing could be done for the people of Earth anymore. I waste my time for them in vain. From today onwards, I will never come for them again. It is said that since that day, God has never met any human being again.
