Why did Sage Bhrigu curse Vishnu? This story dates back to the time when the demon king Hiranyakashipu was killed, and Prahlada, a devotee of Vishnu, became the ruler of the demon community. Although Prahlada was a devotee of Vishnu, he had to engage in several battles with the gods to uplift the demon race. Eventually, Prahlada renounced everything, and his son Virachan became the king.

After Virachan, Bali became the demon king. Following Bali's reign, there were continuous fierce battles with the demons. However, when Vishnu joined the gods in their war efforts, the demons started losing, creating chaos among them. As many demons were being killed, they sought refuge with Sage Bhrigu and Shukracharya, the preceptor of the demons.
Shukracharya instilled confidence in the demons, performed severe penance, known as Kanadhum, hanging upside down from a tree while inhaling smoke for a thousand years, and sought a boon from Lord Shiva. Meanwhile, the demons took refuge at Shukracharya's mother's place.
Upon learning that all the demons had taken shelter there, Vishnu went to eliminate them. However, Shukracharya's mother had promised to protect the demons, leading to a conflict between righteousness and unrighteousness. To resolve the impasse, Vishnu had to use his Sudarshana Chakra against Shukracharya's mother, resulting in Bhrigu cursing Vishnu.
Out of anger, Bhrigu cursed Vishnu to be born in the human form. Hence, Vishnu took birth as a human.
